I have been meaning to do a review of Polo Black Cologne for a long time now. I first heard about it in a magazine article about designer men’s colognes.

They had a top ten list of the best men’s cologne for 2012 and it was the one that stood out most for me. That is pretty odd considering the cologne was created by Ralph Lauren in 2005. I decided to give it a chance and I’m glad I did because it has become one of my favorite colognes for many different occasions.

The main reason I am drawn to this cologe is the amazing top notes. They are in my opinion the best part of this cologne because of how well they work together and how long they last. You can expect to get around two hours of smells from the top notes. They blend into a wonderful mix of mango, perpper and spices.

This creates a heavenly scent on your skin that will keep people coming back for more. One thing I do have to mention though is that if you are looking for a crazy good dry down you will be disappointed. As long as you aren’t expecting this you will be very pleased with the cologne. The dry down is very subtle so it’s kinda hard to tell what exactly you are smelling, the only definate aroma you can pick up is the pepper and spices.

Although this cologne by Ralph Lauren is classified as an oriental spice, it should be considered as more of a fruity citrus spice in my opinion . I say this because from the moment you spray this cologne it smells like someone sliced a mango and tangerine right under your nose and then proceeded to add black pepper to the tops of these delicious fruits.

It is absolutely the perfect cologne for guys who love mangos. If you haven’t figured it out by now, this cologne is not for those who dispise fruity scents. Just don’t let that fool you into thinking this is some kind of feminine cologne for teenage boys. It is very much a strong manly scent and nobody who gets a whif will tell you otherwise.

This is an amazing summer fragrance that doesn’t leap out at people. It’s very hard to over spray this cologne. Sometimes with other colognes it’s easy to over spray and end up having too strong of a scent. That often bothers other people more than they are willing to admit. You won’t really have to worry about that with this cologne. I normally just go with four or five sprays and that has always worked great for me.

It’s the perfect scent for close quarters occasions and especially good for romantic summer nights with your significant other. I normally wear it during the summer and spring months, both at night and in the daytime.

The only real negative comment I can make about this cologne is the fact that the scent doesn’t last long compared to other designer men’s colognes. If they ever found a way to increase the scent duration I would be jumping for joy and first in line to purchase a dozen more bottles.

This is something I can live with though because it just makes the cologne seem more elusive. If you are looking for quality and don’t care too much about the scent duration, than Polo Black cologne for men by Ralph Lauren is the perfect choice for you.
